MUA Make up Academy Lip Haul

We’re sure many of you will agree, you can never have enough lip products in your makeup bag! Since we’ve recently been trying to keep our makeup products cruelty-free, MUA (Make up Academy) are a cruelty-free brand we’ve been trying out lately. They have a large range of products which are reasonably priced and we recently bought quite a few new products from their lip range!

All of the products we bought were £1 each and we got them on a 3 for 2 offer meaning we got all 6 products for £4, even better!

MUA-mystic-marsalaMatte Lipstick in Mystic Marsala

Lauren brought this shade home a few weeks ago and I fell so in love with it I had to grab one for myself! I love the look a matte lipstick gives and this shade is such a beautiful light berry colour. It applies easily and Lauren has told me it stays on so well throughout the day, so you can’t go wrong for £1! It’s so different to the dark shades I usually wear but sometimes it’s nice to have a change. I think this shade could possibly be worn all year round which makes it even better!

MUA-Shade-1Lipstick in Shade 1

I love this shade, although it looks very different when it’s applied. The lipstick in the bullet looks a very dark wine/blood red colour, whereas when applied, the colour has more of a pink tint to it and is a lot lighter. It applies really smoothly and I can’t wait to see how long it lasts throughout the day.

MUA-brooding-plumLip Liner in Brooding Plum

Since there was a 3 for 2 offer I felt like trying something other than a lipstick.  I chose this lip liner as I loved the look of the colour and thought I could try to use it all over instead of just a liner. I’m also terrible at applying lipstick and thought buying a lip liner might help, turns out it doesn’t! The colour of the pencil looks red-brown but when applied it’s actually a vibrant berry shade, similar to ‘Shade 1’ but a bit lighter. This was a little disappointing but I still love the actual colour. It applies very smoothly and leaves a matte finish which isn’t drying. The lip pencil also comes with a little sharpener on the lid which is really handy!

Lauren-MUA-Scarlet-sirenMatte Lipstick in Scarlet Siren

I’ve been looking for a decent matte red lipstick from a cruelty free brand for a little while now. After purchasing Mystic Marsala from MUA’s matte range a few weeks ago, I knew that for £1 Scarlet Siren was worth a try! Just like the other MUA lipsticks I own Scarlet Siren is so easy to apply and I find that the matte lipsticks don’t bleed. One thing I was a little disappointed with was that it’s more of a pinky red than pillar box red. That being said it does look lovely on and if it wears as well as Mystic Marsala I’ll be a very happy bunny!

Another reddy toned lipstick is Vintage Rouge however, it is a darker tone compared to Scarlet Siren. I’m not too keen on shiny lipsticks they remind me of wearing too much lip gloss when I was younger. Therefore, I would prefer this colour in matte so MUA, please grant my wish and make this shade in matte form! Anyway, it applies really lovely and doesn’t wash out my skin tone too much. I’m sure that after a little while wearing a ‘normal’ lipstick will grow on me. This lipstick is a beautiful colour so I’m sure it will get a lot of wear regardless!

MUA-shade-2Lipstick in Shade 2

I thought I’d go for something a little different, which is odd for me but I was feeling brave! I decided to go for Shade 2 which is a pinky/purple tone and it has some sparkle in it too. I’ll be perfectly honest and say I’m not 100% sure if I like this on BUT it will probably grow on me! I feel like it’s something I would of worn age 13 but hey I’m 20 now, here’s to hoping I can pull it off!

As we have been mainly wearing the matte lipsticks recently, we would also like to say how great they are in terms of wear. We have found that we are able to brush our teeth and even eat dinner, with the lipstick still staying in tact. Also, considering they are matte lipsticks, they don’t leave your lips feeling dry at all!

If you’re looking to treat yourself to a few new lip products you should definitely try some of these out. All of their products are really good quality considering the low prices and they have such a big selection of colours to choose from!
