New Year, New… Tees?

_MG_6624.jpg

It’s safe to say we’re not the best when it comes to arranging a day to take blog pictures. The weather is never on our side when we head out to get outfit photos and the day we took these was particularly freezing. Just our luck that it was like the coldest, most windy day of the year so far and we’re not even joking, our hands were so frozen we had trouble pressing the cameras shutter button. The things us bloggers do!
Getting onto the point of this post… We’re 18 days into 2018 and it didn’t take our shopping obsessed selves long to go and splash some Christmas cash on a few new clothing items, it just had to be done! Today we’re talking all about these new tees (well, one is technically a jumper) that we managed to find around the shops at the beginning of the month.

Pink, it’s our new obsession… | Styling the Statement Coat

pink-coatss.jpg

So we’re still not entirely sure what the meaning of that song really is… but hey it makes for a pretty catchy blog title regardless right? Plus, who doesn’t love a bit of Aerosmith?! It is true though, surprisingly we’ve a new found love for the colour pink. A lot of the time we wear mainly monochrome outfits, so it’s nice to add a pop of colour somewhere and in this case it’s in the form of a coat.

Pink in general has been on trend lately, which has shocked us a little as we personally associate the colour with Spring and Summer as opposed to the colder seasons. We personally haven’t worn much pink for years now as we steered away from it when we went through our wanna be ‘punk’ phase (everyone had one right?) and never got back in to it as a colour. That’s until now and the main for this is because of these amazing statement coats that we’re about to show you!

September OOTD: Hello Autumn

_MG_4164.jpg

So this month had been very hectic. We’ve both had to get back into normal lives after such a long Summer break and it’s been so hard to adjust, especially since getting back from Florida. It’s left us with no time for blogging and we’ve had to abandon our blog a bit, which is sad but life just takes over right? We really enjoy writing fashion posts for our blog and we’ve tried so hard to bring monthly ‘outfit of the day’ posts to it, so of course we couldn’t miss out September’s post! It feels like all we’ve been writing about lately is our trip to Disney World, which is great because there’s so much we want to share with our readers, but it feels so good to be writing a fashion post again. Since writing our ‘Staying True to Ourselves’ OOTD in July, we’ve realised how important it is for us to be real and show ourselves exactly as we are on our blog. So in this month’s OOTD, we’re doing just that and we thought we’d show you how we’re changing up our wardrobes slightly as Autumn approaches. We know these aren’t the most ‘Autumnal’ outfits, but we’re saving our cable knits and Doc Martens for another day!

August OOTD: Styling Summer Skirts

IMG_3426

Is it just us, or is it super hard to find the perfect skirt? We always seem to fall in love with skirts that are either too short, too tight across the bum or that we just don’t feel comfortable in once we’ve tried it on. After searching for the dream skirt for quite some time now, we’ve both managed to find one which ticks all the boxes for us, finally!! There’s still a few weeks of Summer left and these two skirts are perfect for the season. Of course we used our August Outfit of the Day post as an excuse to showcase them, because they’re too nice for you guys to not see!  We really love doing OOTD posts every month, as they allow us to get out and explore pretty locations to take photos in and sometimes we even find local places which we never even know existed. Sometimes it can just be good to put some nice clothes on and head out for some fresh air. We can only hope that we can still find time to do this once September hits and we go back to our usual busy lives.

Why We Aren’t Fans of the ‘Off the Shoulder’ Trend

_MG_3212.jpg

One of the biggest trends we’ve been seeing over the last couple of months in the shops, on blogs and all over Instagram is the ‘off the shoulder’ trend. Lately we’ve been finding so many amazing jumpsuits, playsuits, tops and dresses and they’re all off the shoulder. This bardot trend is everywhere so it’s clearly one that a lot of people have been loving! It is a trend that has taken the stores by storm but unfortunately for us, we aren’t too keen. Yes we do know it’s probably an incredibly unpopular opinion but we do have our reasons so stick around and let us explain!

OOTD- Staying True to Ourselves

IMG_2790.jpg

We feel like it’s so important to be real on our blog, especially when it comes to fashion posts. We always put so much pressure on ourselves to look a certain way in our blog photos; we want to look like our favourite fashion bloggers, we want to make an effort and look cool and somewhat “edgy” and most importantly we want to feel good about ourselves. That being said, most days when we’re not taking blog photos we don’t make that amount of effort and that’s what today’s post is all about. We don’t go out a lot, we don’t live perfect, exciting lives like you see on Instagram and therefore going out to take blog photos is the only excuse we ever have to get dressed up! Don’t get us wrong, we absolutely love making an effort and putting our favourite clothes on for pictures, although sometimes it’s nice to chuck on a casual outfit and show everyone what we’d wear on an average day. So today we’re talking casual, everyday clothing. Effortless outfits which we throw on when we’re going shopping, or to uni, because unlike the people we worship on Instagram, these are the only places we really go to!

July OOTD | Black & White

IMG_2105

After coming back from our week away with the boys (we filmed some vlogs if you want to see them – part 1 & part 2), we feel like we haven’t really done much. We’re trying so hard to save all of our money for our trip to Florida that our time is mainly spent at home or doing some ‘window shopping’ in town. We finally decided that enough was enough and ventured out to take some blog photos and so here we present to you our July OOTD (yaaaaay!!). We missed out on our June Outfit of the Day so it feels so good to get this post up! Today we are taking it back to the very basics with two of our favourite colours, black and white. Black probably isn’t the most ideal colour to wear in July when the sun is shining, although we love the sophisticated yet casual look it can give and we’re bored of wearing bright summer colours now anyway!
