We were hoping that 2018 would be a great year for our blog. We decided that we wanted to go more down the fashion route as it allows us to get out the house and explore, which makes blogging so much more enjoyable, but so far the weather has been a complete let down. It means that we haven’t had much content for our little blog. It’s been rainy and cold and there’s no way you’ll see us posing for blog pictures in that! Luckily for us, the weather was on our side the other day (kinda) so we managed to go out and shoot some photos without being rained on, at last! We’re always talking about how much we love wearing dark colours but recently we’ve got a new found love for one colour in particular… red! We’re starting to add little hints of colour to our outfits and red is by far our new favourite colour to do this with.
Tee – Damaged Society

Okay so I may have gone a bit overboard with the colour red for this outfit, but it’s a colour I’m really loving lately! I never really wore red until I bought some red trousers last year and I’ve been hooked ever since. I’m a huge fan of a biker jacket, so when I saw this suedette jacket I had to throw hints at my boyfriend Joe (as you do) as I knew it would be the perfect gift for my birthday. Since my outfit is pretty monochrome, the jacket shakes things up a bit and just makes it a little more interesting. It’s a really lightweight jacket so it’s perfect for spring, although since it’s faux suede it’s best to avoid going out in the rain wearing it!
I don’t know how I haven’t given these trousers a mention on here before, I’ve been practically living in them since I got them last summer! They’re so comfy and can be thrown on for those days when you can’t be bothered to make an effort, but want to look like you’ve made an effort (perfect for lazy girls like me!). I love the plisse material and these trousers are what made me fall in love with wide leg bottoms. I’ve recently realised that, being a fairly tall girl with long legs, skirts and dresses just don’t suit me well. So I’ve updated my wardrobe with a range of different trousers; they’re just so much more “me”. I also feel that cropped trousers make my legs look a bit shorter which flatters me a lot more and I love how they look.
I love a simple tee and I got this one from a shop called Damaged Society on our trip to Nottingham in February. I really liked the design with the small slogan inside a heart. “You’re Alright”… I just feel like it’s quite sassy but also awkward and that totally represents my personality! Now spring is here (eh…kind of) I’m starting to tie up my tees again and I love how this one looks with these high waist trousers. Converse are probably my favourite shoes to wear with a tee and trousers and I love how they give this look quite a casual vibe.
On to my favourite purchase in a long time… the bag. I’ve been looking for a red bag for so long and as soon as I saw this one in New Look I didn’t hesitate to buy it (okay, maybe the tiniest bit of hesitation but then I got that “treat yourself” mentality and that was it!). I usually go for smaller bags but what drew me to this was the design on the front (it’s described on the website as “toggle front” so we’ll go with that) and obviously the colour! It’s actually the perfect sized bag and I love how it can be worn on the shoulder with the long strap, or carried by the handles. A versatile bag is always a winner for me!

Tee – Primark
Jacket – New Look
Boots – Dr Martens
Bag – Primark
I can honestly say that I found posing for these photos really difficult. I used to love having my photo taken by Rachel and now I just feel really uncomfortable in front of the camera. I think it’s just because we haven’t taken blog photos for over a month now and I’ve forgotten what it feels like to be in front of a camera! Despite all the awkwardness I’d say I’m pretty happy with the outcome! This may not be the most colourful outfit but I’m really feeling the monochrome look.
I have been living in this dress from New Look lately, it’s such a versatile piece as I can wear it with whatever colour or pattern tee I like! I’ve also seen it on a mannequin in store without a tee underneath, so you really can dress this item to your own personal style. I love the tortoise shell buttons on this dress as I feel that it makes it look vintage and I love that sort of style (even though my own personal style doesn’t reflect it!). The cut of this dress is also a winner for me, I like that it’s cut into a ‘V’ shape, it makes a difference as I’m normally in round neck tees or dresses. My (faux) leather jacket is also from New Look, they’re really killing it at the moment, it’s the perfect sort of jacket to wear through Spring as it keeps you warm when there’s a chill in the air but it’s not so thick that you feel like you’re melting when the sun comes out! I had been searching for a new leather jacket for a while and this one was super affordable, I love the ‘edgy’ vibe a leather jacket gives, for me it has to be a staple piece!
I had to try and add a pop of colour somewhere so this red shopper style bag from Primark was perfect. I really love the colour red I originally bought this bag for work because it’s huge, meaning I can shove folders and other bits in it so that I don’t have to carry so many things! I think this bag will be great for when the weather gets warmer and we start to go for picnics and maybe a few trips to the beach. For the small price of £8 this bag is really worth it! As I say in every post, my outfit wouldn’t be complete without a pair of Dr Martens. I decided to wear my newest pair as they are super cosy and keep my feet warm, which is exactly what I needed as it was rather windy today!
Since spring is here now we feel we need to lighten up our wardrobes a bit and we think coloured accessories and jackets are the perfect way to do it. What colours have you been wearing lately?
