If you’ve read our blog before you’ll have seen plenty of reviews on different liquid lipsticks from loads of different brands. They are our favourite makeup product to buy and wear and also one of the things we enjoy reviewing the most on here. One brand we’d never tried before is GOSH and after searching for a few new affordable lipsticks, we decided it was time to try a new brand. We picked out two shades, Nougat Crisp and Candy Floss, both of which happen to be perfect for the new season! The Gosh ‘Liquid Matte Lips’ liquid lipsticks are available from Superdrug and there are 8 stunning shades to choose from. From deep purples to nude pinks, Gosh have something for every lipstick lover’s needs. But what did we think of the product overall?
It can be difficult to find the perfect shade of lipstick to suit your skin tone. We both love nude shades but we’ve struggled to find the perfect light brown and pastel pink for a while. After looking around the makeup isle for quite some time, we found that Gosh had the closest to what we wanted, although unfortunately we still haven’t found our dream lipstick! However, these two colours will do the job for now and both are beautiful shades. Nougat Crisp is a lovely brown/beige tone and Candy Floss is everything you’d expect it to be, pink (but a subtle shade, not too in your face!)! We love the names of each product in this range as we really feel they reflect the shade of each lipstick. The two shades really appealed to us when we swatched them on our hands. However, when it came to applying the product onto our lips we have to say neither of us were too keen on Candy Floss. However, this is a personal thing as it will obviously look slightly different on everyone!
Like a lot of liquid lipsticks, the packaging is fairly basic and the product comes in a clear plastic tube with a black lid. We like the matte lid and how the brand name ‘GOSH’ is imprinted on it. There’s not much else to say about the packaging but it’s quite sturdy and does the job.
Application & Formula
These lipsticks have a flat applicator with a slight point, which makes it so much easier to outline your lips first. This is something which we haven’t noticed about other brands and it’s a bonus if you’re like us and can’t apply lipstick neatly, because you’re almost guaranteed a nice, neat application. The formula of the lipstick is very creamy and smooth and it is really easy to apply. However, we have found that it is quite sticky and it doesn’t dry fully. It also isn’t fully matte, as it has a slight shine to it, making this product more of a lip gloss than a matte lipstick. This may not be a bad thing to those who are prone to getting dry lips, although if you’re looking for an ultra matte lipstick, these probably aren’t the best for you! Another thing we noticed is that the lighter shade, Candy Floss, applies quite thinly so a lot of product is needed to get an even coverage. Overall the application is brilliant although the formula lets it down slightly.
Despite the lipsticks not being ultra matte, they do surprisingly last a long time! We found that we could eat and drink whilst wearing the product and although it does transfer onto your glass or food, the product still looks intact on your lips. We wore the product for around 5 hours at a time and found that the lipstick doesn’t fade or flake off, you’re left with vibrant lips even after eating!
Overall we have to be honest, we were pretty disappointed these products. For the price of £8.99 each, the formula is very sticky and we are personally fans of an ultra matte lip so they just aren’t for us. The best thing about them was the application which we were quite impressed with. Although these lipsticks aren’t super expensive, they may not be affordable for everyone, so for us, if we were looking for a cheaper alternative to a high end liquid lipstick we’d probably go for an MUA one instead! Of course these are just our personal opinions and you may try them out and love them, it’s all down to personal preference!
Overall Score: 13.5/20
