Unicorn Inspired Makeup Looks with Amanda Jayne

We love reading other blogs and supporting bloggers as much as we can and Amanda Jayne is somebody whose blog we have been reading since we first started ours. If we had to describe her blog in one word it would be unique. Her posts are always so different and she always manages to come up with amazing ideas! One post in particular that made us decide this is her Mermaid Inspired Make-Up’ tutorial, where she showed us how to create a stunning and vibrant mermaid look and let’s face it, who doesn’t want to look like a mermaid?! After watching her tutorial we thought about how amazing it would be to create a unicorn inspired look and get Amanda involved! So if you’ve ever wanted to be a Unicorn, have a look at our creations and try them for yourself! Let’s be honest, it’s the closest you’ll ever get to becoming a Unicorn…

When I think of unicorns I think of pinks, purples and lots of sparkles! I don’t really wear a lot of bright or glittery makeup so I had to make do with what I had, but I managed to create a pretty look which isn’t too out there but also shouts unicorns! Before I talk you through this look I just want to say I am not that great with makeup and you can probably do way better, but it was fun. Also, I probably don’t really have a clue what I’m talking about when it comes to makeup!

Products Used-
MUA Eyeliner Pencil in Snow White
Makeup Revolution Mermaids Forever Palette
Seventeen High Drama Intense Liquid Eyeliner
Barry M That’s How I Roll Mascara
Makeup Revolution Scandalous Lipstick in Depraved
MUA Undress Your Skin Highlighter in Iridescent Gold

To create this look I started by priming my eyes and then using a white eyeliner pencil allover. I think this is meant to make the colour pop a bit more so I also added some white eye shadow to make the colours really stand out! All of the colours I used on my eyes are from the Mermaids Forever palette by Makeup Revolution (I mentioned it here!). I used the shade Song allover the lid and then used the slightly darker shade Princess in the middle of the lid and blended it up. Then I used a slightly darker purple, Ocean in the crease just to make sure the purple stands out!

I wanted to add a splash of pink into the look so I added some of the pink shade, Pretty, applied it to the crease and blended it outwards (I’m saying this a lot acting like I know what I’m talking about. But you probably get what I mean!). Once I was done I did my usual cat eyeliner flick and applied mascara to my lashes, then applied white eyeliner on my waterline. I’ve never done this before but I do like how it makes your eyes look bigger and stand out more, I just thought it was perfect for a unicorn look! I always like to add eye shadow underneath my waterline and in the corners of my eyes as I think it brightens them up. I used a very light pink shade called Myth for the corners of my eyes and made a line underneath my waterline with the shades Ocean (dark purple) and Pink Sea (dark pink/orange).

To complete my unicorn look, I applied a vibrant purple lipstick and a little bit of highlighter (which you can’t really see in photos, ahhh!). I like how it gives a bit of shimmer to my face as who doesn’t think of sparkles when unicorns are mentioned?!

I’m actually quite happy with how my look turned out! It’s something that I would probably feel comfortable wearing out of the house and who knew I’d be able to rock a bright purple lip (sort of)? My camera didn’t really want to pick up on how bright and pretty the colours are but you get the point!

Lauren –
I will admit to everyone, I am the worst when it comes to make-up. I cannot blend eye shadow at all so this blog post was a bit of a struggle for me but I wanted to give it a go! Due to the fact that I’m not very confident when it comes to make up, I decided to go against putting step by step pictures up (I just wanted to get the look done, I was super nervous). To me your typical Unicorn colours are pinks, purples, silvers, yellows and lots of glitter. However, I wanted to make my Unicorn look a little bit different so I ‘grunged’ it up a bit on the lips.

Products Used-
MUA Eyeshasow Palette – Poptastic
Barry M That’s How I Roll Mascara
MUA Velvet Lip Lacquer – Kooky
MUA Undress Your Skin Highlighter in Iridescent Gold

I started off by priming my eyes and using a light eye shadow all over my eyelid as a base. I then took the shade Lime Sizzle from the Poptastic palette and applied it all over my eyelid. It’s a beautiful lemon yellow that’s really sparkly. I then moved on to the purple tones. I applied the shade Pizzaz Purple to the centre of my eyelid and then added the darker purple, Electric Purple, to the crease of my eye.

Once I’d finished with my eyelids I made sure to cover any dark circles under my eyes and moved on to my lips. Whenever I use a matte lipstick I always use a Lush lip scrub before applying as it gives a much better finish. I chose to use Kooky on my lips as I feel like it didn’t clash too much with the make up on my eyes. Finally, I used the MUA highlight on my face and nose to give me a little bit of a glow.

I know this is nowhere near perfect but I’m so glad I gave it a go. Had I been able to find any, I would have loved to add lots of glitter to this look to make it even more Unicorn-y!

We really enjoyed doing this post and working with Amanda. You should definitely go check out her Unicorn inspired look over on her blog for even more Unicorn makeup inspo! If you enjoyed this post then please let us know and be sure to look out for more posts like this in the future, as we have a few more ideas up our sleeves!
