Growing up we were never the type of girls who would experiment much with makeup or beauty. We never fake tanned, never wore hair extensions and neither of us went through that ‘blue eyeshadow’ phase! When we first started our blog we weren’t into makeup as much as we are now. Although we’ve now tried out a lot more products than we ever thought we would’ve, we still wouldn’t say we’re the best bloggers when it comes to makeup. We love the occasional beauty review, but boy do we do some things that most bloggers would be shocked about! So here are our 10 reasons why we’re bad beauty bloggers, just promise you won’t laugh at us too much!
WE’D RATHER SPEND MONEY ON FOOD THAN MAKE UP
We don’t buy expensive makeup and being honest, most of our money goes on clothes and food. We know we’d probably see much better results with our makeup if we spent more money on it, but then again, we’d rather have a Nandos than flawless skin!
WE’RE TOO LAZY TO PUT FOUNDATION ON
Most bloggers won’t go without foundation. It leaves your skin looking flawless and evens out your skin tone, who wouldn’t want to wear it?! Well actually… us. It’s not that we have anything against it, we’re actually just too lazy to apply it every day! Neither of us have ever worn it purely because the thought of having to put it on every single day and make sure it is evenly blended just seems like too much hassle to us…how lazy!
CONTOURING? HOW DO YOU DO THAT?
We both watch our fair share of beauty videos and tutorials on YouTube. We’ve seen how to contour and what it does for you, but again, we’re way too lazy and unskilled to do it! We like to be up and out ready to start the day and if our makeup routine has too much going on we’ll never be able to leave on time!
WE WON’T SPEND MORE THAN A FIVER ON A LIPSTICK
We don’t really wear lipstick enough to justify spending over £5 on it! We also prefer to stick to cheap brands where we can pick up a few lipsticks for under a tenner. That being said, we wouldn’t think twice about buying a Kat Von D lip product as a treat and they’re soon to be available in the UK, eek!
WHAT’S WITH THE MAC HYPE?
We always see bloggers post about MAC and how great their products are but we just don’t get the hype. Their products seem like a lot of money and yeah we admit they have some nice lipstick colours, but to us £15 isn’t worth it, especially when they aren’t cruelty-free anyway! Nothing against you guys that love MAC though!
WE USE MAKEUP WIPES!
A lot of people say using makeup wipes to take off your makeup is a no go, but admittedly we both do it. It’s just quicker and easier, especially when you get home late. A lot of the time we use a cleanser afterwards but we still use the forbidden face wipes… bad bloggers, we know!
WE NEVER GET OUR EYEBROWS DONE
Lauren has had her eyebrows waxed once and that’s it. We try and shape ours with tweezers and eye brow gel, which is probably why they’re not on ‘fleek’! Again, we’re just far too lazy and we don’t have time to fit in an eyebrow appointment. Plus we’ve got to save our money to spend on other essentials, like pizza (whoops!).
WE WEAR LIPSTICKS THAT ARE WAY TOO BRIGHT FOR OUR SKIN TONES
We can’t help but love a berry tone on our lips. But when you’re pale like us they’re not the most recommended colours for our skin tones! We should probably stick to nude or light pink tones, but life really is too short to worry about that. Plus, why shouldn’t we be able to wear nice shades just because we look like vampires? The vampy look is always a good one in our eyes!
WE NEVER WEAR FAKE EYELASHES, LIKE HOW DO YOU PUT THEM ON WITHOUT BLINDING YOURSELF?
False lashes seem so fiddly. Knowing our luck we’d end up poking ourselves in the eye multiple times. Don’t get us wrong, whenever we see other bloggers or youtubers wearing them they look lovely. We just don’t have the patience to learn how to apply them properly. We’re lucky that our natural lashes are fairly long!
WE NEVER GET OUR NAILS DONE AND WE RARELY PAINT THEM EITHER!
We love having our nails painted but it can be so time consuming. They almost always smudge even when you’ve left them to dry for hours. If you’re lucky and they don’t smudge, they’re more than likely to chip after a day. It’s all a lot of effort really. Plus, we’re too lazy to get our nails done professionally and it’s too much money for us!
So there we have it, you now know how lazy we are when it comes to beauty. We’ve both finally admitted that we are terrible beauty bloggers! But then again, makeup has no rules right! Can you relate to any of these points we’ve made? Leave us a comment and let us know!
