Current MUA Favourites from June 2016

MUA-haul

Makeup Academy cosmetics feature quite often on our blog and the fact that their products are so affordable means we just keep buying more and more. They’ve been one of our favourite cruelty-free cosmetics brands lately and we adore their lip products, but we have been trying to use more of the different products they have to offer to see if they’re just as good! We recently picked up a few eye palettes since we want to improve our eye makeup technique and cheap palettes are a great way to start! They soon became some of our favourite products from MUA, so we thought we’d show you what we’re currently loving from Makeup Academy!

Romantic Efflorescence Eye Platte- £4Romantic-efflorescence-palette

This palette is full of slightly darker shadows, both matte and metallic and the different shades of plums and browns are perfect for a smoky eye that is bold, yet still quite natural. The colours blend easily and the pigmentation is quite good considering how affordable the palette is. The purple shades blend so well together with the other colours and they are definitely the prettiest shades in the palette!

Heaven And Earth Palette- £4heaven-&-earth-palette

The Heaven and Earth palette features dark nude colours with many of the colours being brown toned. As we’ve not yet mastered the art of eye shadow this palette is perfect for a subtle look. We haven’t yet got the confidence to use really bright coloured shadows yet, so these tones are great for a lovely natural eye look!

Undress Me Too Palette- £4Undress-me-too-pallette

The Undress Me Too palette has more grey, earthy tones compared to the others mentioned in this post! As with all of the MUA palettes we’ve tried, the colours are well pigmented for the small price of £4. A lot of bloggers and YouTubers have said that this palette is a dupe for the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette. When looking at these palettes together it is clear that the shades are very similar, which means you can get the same look for a lot smaller price! We love the white packaging of this palette too, it stands out amongst darker palettes and is quite unique.

Lip Products £1-£3MUA-lip-products

From L-R: Velvet Lip Lacquer in Tranquility, Velvet Lip Lacquer in Reckless, Lip Liner in Brooding Plum

The MUA velvet lip lacquers are some of our favourite lip products we own! In fact we love them so much we’ve mentioned them countless times in other posts/videos. Reckless is a bright red with some pinky tones (although in this picture it looks more pink). If you’re looking for a bold red lip than this is ideal! The lip liner in brooding plum can be paired with Reckless or used allover and for the small price of £1 it’s well worth a try.

Another lip lacquer we’ve been loving is Tranquility. It’s a nude colour with not only peach but also brown tones. It’s darker than Harmony which is another nude colour from the collection, but still perfect for when you want a subtle nude lip.

All of the items we mentioned in this post are so affordable but still amazing quality for the price! MUA is a brand perfect for makeup newbies or anybody like us who want some quality, affordable products. Since writing this post (and believe us, we’ve been meaning to put this post up for a while now!) we’ve bought quite a few new products from MUA and you can read/hear all about them in numerous posts and YouTube videos!

  1. I have both the Undressed palettes and I defo prefer the second one, which you’ve mentioned, more than the first – I think it’s just the tones I get more use out of! They are amazing quality palettes, especially for £4, their eye palettes are by far some of my favourites in the drugstore, you really can’t go wrong with them! I was so close to picking up the Heaven & Earth palette recently when Superdrug had 3 for 2 on, but I went for a Freedom palette instead. I’ll probably pick it up eventually! Reckless is definitely one of my favourite red lip products, I’m not sure I’m as much of a fan of the new lip lacquer formula as I was the old (my Reckless has the old formula), but nonetheless they do have some great new shades so I’ll probably pick them up anyway!
